Sugar promotes insulin resistance in your body. When you consume a large amount of sugar, your blood sugar level spikes, and this causes a release of large amounts of insulin. If your blood sugar level spikes frequently, cells develop resistance to the insulin, which can lead to type 2 diabetes mellitus!
